Celebrating the rich history of cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives

October marks Global Diversity Awareness Month, a time to celebrate the rich history of cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives that make our world vibrant and dynamic. This annual opportunity to deepen your knowledge, experience, and understanding of people, cultures, and hi(her)stories has its roots in the Universal Declaration for Human Rights (worth a read or reread!). It’s a month dedicated to recognizing the value of inclusion and the power of diversity in building stronger, more innovative communities.

Our Culture, Strategy, and Organizational Design (CSOD) team knows all about the richness of diversity. We come from various backgrounds — West Coasters, Southerners, New Englanders, East Coasters, and Carribbeans. We are lawyers, ballerinas, boxers, political scientists, musicians, journalists, linguists, organizers, hunters, empaths, coaches, coffee snobs, and math and science nerds. Our differences are our greatest asset, and they help us do our jobs better — transforming organizations from the inside out. As we observe this month, we invite you to reflect on your own role in fostering inclusive environments. Whether it’s learning more about different cultures, advocating for policies that create greater access, or engaging in meaningful conversations, each of us can contribute to a world that celebrates diversity in all its forms. Together, we can create spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

At Raben, we work to shift power to historically marginalized communities — women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those with disabilities. We use advocacy, communications, law, and organizational change to ensure that these values are embedded in the fabric of our society. Our Culture, Strategy, and Organizational Design practice area offers a comprehensive, integrated approach to building successful organizations.
