Our Expertise

Criminal Justice

From the past to the present, the criminal justice system in the United States sits at the center of the racial and economic inequities in our society. There is a broad and growing consensus across the political spectrum that our system of mass incarceration and surveillance is deeply broken, failing to provide either safety or justice - particularly for the individuals and communities most impacted by violence, social disinvestment, and the harms of the justice system itself. Led by science, research, and the experience of directly impacted communities, Raben works with our clients and partners to foundationally reimagine justice through policy, programmatic, narrative, and cultural change.

  • The John Jay College of Criminal Justice at the City University of New York is among the world’s leading institutions in criminal justice education. With nearly 60 chapters and more than 3,000 members, The National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) has served and advocated for Black law enforcement leaders since 1976. Recognizing their unique positions in the wake of 2020’s increased activism around criminal justice reform and the role of policing, the two organizations sought to develop a consensus and report on the future of public safety. Raben was hired to support the report’s development from the initial identification of contributing voices to the final writing and promotion of the published report.
