Case Study
Environmental Defenders Office (Australia)
Fostering Nature's Prosperity Through Organizational Transformation
About the client
The Environmental Defenders Office (EDO) is an Australian NGO that utilizes legal avenues to champion a world where nature flourishes. With organizational changes, a focus on First Nations and Pasifika communities, and a revamped strategy, EDO is committed to impactful outcomes.
Our Work
The Environmental Defenders Office (EDO) is an Australian NGO that uses the legal system to create a world where nature thrives. EDO has gone through a variety of changes over the past three years including combining eight individual environmental groups under a single organization; emphasizing a commitment to First Nations and Pasifika communities; and revising the organization strategy around impactful outputs.
Raben has a current engagement with EDO focused on helping the executive director and the executive team to lead the organization through structural, strategic, and cultural change. Our work has included tactical support to ensure that EDO has a clear approach to decision-making as well as efforts to identify and address historic inequities that diminish the voices of indigenous populations.
The Outcome
By the end of our engagement at the end of 2023, EDO will have established a clear set of organizational priorities; built an organization structure that truly melds legacy functions from previous organizations under one plan; advanced the work needed to make EDO an inclusive organization; and strengthened EDO’s approach to human capital management.
