Shyrah Kum is Raben's director of people and culture. In this role, Shyrah uses her background in developing and executing equitable workplace strategies to establish a culture of belonging at the firm. She partners with leadership and operations to bridge gaps, enhance connections, and build people capabilities within Raben.
Before joining Raben, Shyrah served as the community outreach and development senior manager at DC Green Bank. She was responsible for establishing inaugural processes, developing training, and designing outreach initiatives to ensure that DC Green Bank was a leader in implementing best practices for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in energy-focused financing. Shyrah has developed sustainable relationships with faith leaders, environmental justice advocates, grassroots organizers, and community members alike to amplify the voices of the underserved. She was able to secure over $8 million for communities most impacted by climate change. Previously, Shyran served as a deployment manager for the Mid-Atlantic tax practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Her background includes roles in program coordination, diversity recruitment, and operations within higher education prior to her transition into human capital. Shyrah worked as an assistant director of undergraduate admissions at Virginia Tech; as a coordinator for orientation, events, and operations at George Mason University; and as a program coordinator at The George Washington University.
Shyrah holds a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech and a master’s degree in Education Administration from Old Dominion University. She also holds a certification in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace from the University of South Florida’s Muma College of Business and is a trained facilitator. In her spare time, Shyrah enjoys time with her family, traveling, museums, and exploring new brunch spots.
