Alyssa
McMurtry

Alyssa McMurtry plays a pivotal role as an associate in Raben’s Strategic Communications practice. Leveraging her extensive background as a journalist, she crafts internal and external communications, engages with diverse audiences, and persuasively delivers our clients' messages.

Since her time at Raben, Alyssa has drafted and edited op-eds and press releases, created social media content, researched opposition tactics, and supported overall communications efforts. She is also a good resource for scanning social media trends and helping with media training.

Before joining Raben, Alyssa was a journalist for Gongwer News Service in Michigan. Covering state politics and policy, she primarily focused on legislation affecting state departments and agencies and the services they provided. Additionally, Alyssa reported on campaigns and elections of U.S. House candidates during the 2022 midterm elections. She also worked as a marketing and communications intern for the Detroit Institute of Arts.

Alyssa graduated from the University of Michigan in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and English. As an undergrad, she worked for the Michigan Daily as a government and business reporter. She enjoys reading, watching movies, and visiting D.C.’s many free museums in her spare time.
